1965 Lionel 11560 Train Set With Original Box Texas Special Figure 8 Track 7 Car

  

1965 O-gauge Lionel train set number 11560 "The Texas Special". "The Texas Special" 211 electric and dummy engines. Yellow horse transport car 6473. Full figure 8 track 12 curved pieces, 4 straight pieces and 1 cross section. The electric engine has a small crack in the front bumper.

Horse transport car has a broken axle and is missing a set of wheels. Caboose car has a loose set of wheels that like to fall off - they may just be the wrong size. Track is a complete figure 8, there are at least 2 missing connector pins. When tested, the engine did not move well on its own some of the time, perhaps not enough power or because we had it set up on carpet. There was some sparking on the tracks while the engine was moving.

As I know nothing about train sets, I was unable to determine what the issues were. At one point the engine moved quite well on its own during testing, but as you can see in the video, it has some issues. Track and cars are in fair condition only and were sitting in storage for several years.

They appear to have been used quite a bit before they were put in storage. This set was given a basic cleaning but definitely needs more TLC. Box is badly damaged from water and storage but is being included since it is original to the set. With a little bit of love, this set should spruce up nicely. From a smoke free environment.
