Disneyland Railroad G Scale Train Set E. P. Ripley Loco-Custom Built-Lilly Belle

  

This is a G Scale custom built working replica model and includes four of the Disneyland Railroad's most famous icons. The main feature of the set is the 4-4-0 locomotive E. Ripley and it's matching tender. Also included are the Lilly Belle Presidential Parlor Car and Disneyland Caboose number 208. Ripley was originally built by Walt Disney at his Disney machine shop as a 5/8th operating replica of an authentic steam locomotive.

The locomotive quickly became Walt's favorite. Ripley began operation at Disneyland on opening day in 1955 along with Caboose 208. The Lilly Belle Presidential Parlor Car is named after Walt's wife, Lillian Disney due to her influence on it's interior design and decor.

All four of the cars featured in this set continue to operate at Disneyland today and can be seen traveling around the park daily. This is a G Scale custom built working replica model of the Disneyland Railroad. The model was created using components from various vintage model trains as well as custom made parts.

A great deal of effort has been put into fabricating, hand painting and assembling individual components in the creation of this one of a kind tribute to the Disneyland Railroad. The model's graphics were also carefully created with great attention to detail to ensure a close match to those of the actual Disneyland U. The locomotive will operate on any standard G scale metal or plastic track. (A full set of plastic track is available for this set in a separate listing) It is powered by 6 C size batteries stored in the tender (batteries not included).

The locomotive runs in forward and reverse and features locomotive sounds in the tender. The locomotive headlight is lit when the train is running. The tender and both additional cars feature LGB style couplers which are an industry standard for many G scale railcars.

I found a special appeal in recreating the beautiful trains of Disneyland U. In addition to assembling cars and locomotives from fabricated and vintage parts, I also pursued recreating the unique graphics adorning the Disney trains.
