It is a complete train set with a locomotive and rolling stock and operating components (built from the 1960's to the 1980's). All train and operating components are in very good condition, and everything in the set works as it should. The track are all 027 gauge and are in fair to very good condition.

Included in this sale are the following. 1 - Lionel #8304 4-4-2 steam locomotive, with a powerful ac motor, a working headlight, smoke unit with puffer and an e unit that allows it to run in forward and reverse directions controlled from the transformer. The 8304 was built from 1975 to 1977.

1 - Lionel Chesapeake and Ohio tender with an electronic "sound of steam" package that creates a "choo-choo" sound triggered from the locomotive as the train moves in the forward direction. 1 - Lionel #9040 General Mills, Wheaties boxcar. This car was built from January of 1970. 1 - Lionel # 16400 Pennsylvania hopper car.

The 16400 was built from 1988 to 1989. 1 - Lionel #6047 Lionel Lines 8 wheel SP style caboose. The 6047 was built in 1962. 1 - Lionel type 4851 15VA transformer with a speed control, a push to reverse terminal, a 110 volt power cord and a 2 wire cable for connection to the track.

This transformer was made from 1985 to 1991. 1 - 54" X 54" soft backed vinyl mat with vinyl painted details to depict a track bed, a couple of parking areas and some roadways. More details and buildings can be added as desired.

1 - Lionel CTC track power connector. 8- 027 gauge curved track sections.

4- 027 gauge straight track sections. 1 - Plasticville train station that has not been glued together, but is missing the chimney.

1 - Plasticville church that has been glued together, but the steeple is there but it is removable. 1 - Plasticville cottage that has been glued together. 1 - Plasticville pond with footbridge, park bench and a sitting person figure. 1 - Standard operating instruction booklet. 1 - Track polishing pad.

5 - Die-cast Matchbox type cars. 1 - small container of smoke fluid. 1 - Rail vehicle crossing ramp. I completely assembled the set and tested everything.

All of the train components are in vary good condition, especially since the components are in the 40 to 60 year old range, but have some play-wear scuffs & dings, fading, dust and some slight rust in areas from years of alternating use and storage. As I previously mentioned, the track is in fair to very good condition, with some light rust and tarnish. I lightly cleaned them, made sure each track has 3 pins, and made sure the train runs nicely on them. This train is ready to set up and play with. I have been making these vinyl pad train layouts for years in various sizes for friends and family.

The size of this mat will work nicely on a sturdy 4 foot square card table, or other similar table, or directly on the floor. This village scene must have been envisioned by the Flat Earth Society, as you can see the rail crossing takes you from the village to the Twilight Zone (like the emptiness of space).

If you have enough room, additional details can be added to fill out the 54" x 54" mat. The mat is great for protecting the surface the train is put onto, and since they are waterproof, they double in use for a pad for a Christmas tree, keeping water and needles off of your table or floor.

They are very durable and the vinyl paint will not flake off, even when the mat is folded for storage. Since this mat was recently created, I applied some wax paper to ensure that the vinyl finish doesn't transfer. When the coating is fully cured, usually about a week, the wax paper is not needed as the finish is very durable. I have described this item to the best of my ability, please check the photos carefully as they are also part of the description.
