Lionel Northern Pacific, Complete O27 / O42 Gauge Diesel Passenger Train Set. This is a used Lionel Northern Pacific North Coast Limited passenger train set including Lionel postwar 2000 series Alco A-A diesel locomotives, which have been refinished and decorated in the colors of the famous Northern Pacific North Coast Limited. It is a complete train set with post war diesel locomotives, 3 modern era Northern Pacific passenger cars and operating components (all built from about 1952 to about 1996). All train and operating components are in excellent condition, and everything in the set works as it should.

The track are all O27 / O42 and are in excellent condition as well. The North Coast Limited was a named passenger train operated by the Northern Pacific Railway between Chicago and Seattle via Bismarck North Dakota. The North Coast Limited began operating as a steam powered passenger train on April 29,1900 between St. Paul Minnesota and Puget Sound, over it's life span, it operated in many differing iterations. Due to railway consolidations, the trains operated until April 30, 1971, after which Amtrak service became the primary U.

New streamlined equipment was authorized in 1946 by the Northern Pacific board of directors, and the new train began service in 1948. The train's more famous two tone paint scheme was adopted in 1954. It was about that time that dome cars were introduced and the train was advertised as "The Vista Dome North Coast Limited".

Included in this sale are the following. 1 - Lionel #2033 Alco Powered A unit diesel locomotive with magnetraction, a 3 position e unit which allows it to operate in forward and reverse directions controlled from the transformer, working headlight and illuminated number boards, decorative horn, as well as an operating horn controlled from the transformer and windshield insert.

The 2033 was built from 1952 to 1954. 1 - Lionel #2033 Alco unpowered A diesel dummy locomotive with working headlight, illuminated number boards, decorative horn, and windshield insert. 1 - Lionel #16035 Northern Pacific illuminated combo car with original box. The 16035 was built from 1990 to 1991.

1 - Lionel #15108 Northern Pacific illuminated vista dome passenger car with original box. The 15108 was built in 1996. 1 - Lionel #16039 illuminated observation car with original box. 1 - Illuminated passenger platform with a CTC connector to obtain power for the light from the track. 12- Lionel O27 / O42 brown tie curved track sections.

1 - Standard operating instruction booklet. I completely assembled the set and tested everything. All of the train components are in excellent condition. The locomotives were originally 2033 Union Pacific diesels.

The passenger cars are in like new condition with their original boxes. The O27 / 042 tracks are also in excellent condition, and make up a nice sized 42" x 62" oval. I lightly cleaned them and made sure the train runs nicely on them. This train is a very unique addition to any collection and is ready to display or set up and play with.
