Marx 4 Unit Diesel Freight Train

  

The #588 diesel locomotive was built from 1958 to 1962. I believe the rolling stock was built during the same time period.

All of the components are in excellent operating condition. Included in this sale are the following.

1 - Marx #588 New York Central diesel switcher locomotive that goes in forward and reverse directions controlled from the transformer. It has a working headlight and is in excellent condition. The 588 was built from 1958 to 1962.

1 - Marx #176893 New York Central 8 wheel boxcar with an operating sliding door on each side. 1 - Marx New York Central 8 wheel crane car with a crank that raises and lowers the lifting hook.

1 - Marx New York Central Pacemaker 8 wheel caboose. 1 - Marx #309 25 watt transformer with a speed control, a 110 volt power cord & wall plug and a 2 conductor cable for track power. 1 - Marx track power connector. 8- Marx 027 gauge curved track sections. 4 - Marx 027 gauge straight track sections.

1 - Standard operating instructions booklet. 1 - Track polishing pad. I completely assembled the set and tested everything.

All of the train components are in very good condition. There may be light rust on some of the metal parts, but nothing that interferes with the operation of the train. I believe this locomotive was built to run in the forward direction only, but, at some point a reversing unit had been added that allows it to run in the forward and reverse directions, controlled from the transformer. The locomotive and boxcar have fixed knuckle couplers on one end while the rest of the couplers are tilt operating type. The track is in fair to good condition, with some light rust and tarnish. I lightly cleaned them, made sure each track has 3 pins, and made sure the train runs properly on them. I included a track polishing pad for maintenance. This train is ready to set up and play with.
